Celebrating the 200th Anniversary of Darwin’s birth, the candle extinguisher expresses strong sculpting and fine hand painting, featuring Darwin looking down at an ammonite in his left hand whilst clutching a copy of his famous book “of the origin species” in this his right hand.
The costume he is wearing is a nineteenth century grey frock coat complete with authentic period seaming at the back. He also wears a light maroon painted double breasted waistcoat exquisitely painted with a slight fleck design.
